Sunday was A champs for Emily and Nick for the summer swim league. Emily swam in the first and last event having already swam the 500 the week before. She was tired and I think ready for a swimming break. Nick had fun remembering his days of can I touch the bottom of an Olympic dive pool as he hunted around for the younger boys! It always comes around.
Monday was an appointment with the surgeon who walked in the room and said, Didn't that MRI just rock! I was so glad to hear someone other than Dr. K say that. We went over the trauma of drains and how you shower and how you manage. I would just like to sleep for the two weeks after surgery and not deal with it, but I don't think that is an option! So,....breathe! I am going to take each day as it comes and see what it holds. Luckily for me I have several mastectomy friends that can help guide me thru the process along with my Mom who will be here when I get home from surgery.
The swim team banquet was last night and as I looked out at the group I was reminded of how lucky I am and blessed to have so many friendships that started there and are driving Miss Jillie today. Looking at friendly faces, happy kids and Mt Ranier as a backdrop are just hard to beat and it gives you strength to keep going.
I am taking a little break now to regroup and get ready for Round 2 on Aug 12. I will update my blog when I get the gumption to sit and type for a bit so bear with me. In the meantime, pray for strength for me in the coming weeks. You can throw my friends John and Judy in there as well.
Thanks for the support, love and good vibes.....it certainly makes it easier!
Big hugs
Jill
