Music to my ears!!! I know the Mariners must think so as well since they hear it a lot! There are just three of these puppies left and it is on to bigger and smaller things!! Lets pick up where we left off on Monday. My attitude is back in the saddle and I have finished my pity party as it just got boring being sad and depressed on such pretty days. Thursday's session brought Dr. Kaplan in with setting up my MRI and CT scan for after the last chemo. Everyone is on deck with the surgery and radiation plan so that is moving forward as well. My rash which had appeared on my bottom of all places has spread to my feet. Dr. Kaplan believes it is a reaction to the Taxol (lucky me) so I lather up with gusto three times a day with cream that fights fungus and is full of steroids (oh goodie).
Dr. K also cut down my steroid use. It had started at 20 mg and I was down to 12mg. He cut me to 8mg. I was hopeful for some rest on Thursday. My ride was the ever so handsome Victor Raisys and he met me with TOAK (Tea of a kind) for the ride home. Yummy and I felt like I had a boyfriend picking me up! Now the sleep I longed for came, but only about an hour earlier (2:30 am) and I was nauseous as well. Friday found me with energy left so off to the pool with Melissa even tho I am not in prime time shape like she is quickly moving into! We swam together for about an hour. I got out first and she went to talk to someone as Melissa is always running for Mayor! Watch out Bruce!! I trot off to the shower and of course after 5 seconds I am done. There are some teenage girls hanging in the women's room, of course, so I can't get to my locker to get my cap. I am putting on lotion with my towel wrapped around me when I spy Miss Popular going to the showers. She does a double take at me when she gets to the showers and nearly falls down laughing. She didn't think I was a man, but all she could think about was Uncle Fester, the UPS guy and my bald head that has chicken fuzz on it! I am so glad I could be of entertainment value this day!! I do have to admit it is such an attractive look for me!
I was not able to get to sleep or nap on Friday, but I did lay low and got to bed by midnight, so I do think the reduced amount of steroids was worth the small price of nausea to put up with and hope we continue. I am getting ready to swim this morning so at least all of this Saturday won't be spent in bed!
There are times I think this process has taken forever and times that I think it is just flying by so fast. I am lucky to have friends like you support me as well as my family on both sides propping me up . My kids have been superstars, but the real hero is Mattie, who never complains about doing the work I can't get to as well as keeping up his everyday life. How lucky can a girl get especially when her two "girls" are acting so poorly!
It is off to the pool and whatever else I can get done on this hot day! Enjoy summer and stay hydrated!
Kisses
