Well, it is eight down and eight to go! When I look at the number still to come, I get a little weepy, but since I know that the number decreases weekly, I smile and snap right out of it! Kinda of like Janet and Justin, right! We are at that point!
I found black tea lemonade works much better than chai lattes and today in my day after routine I am still running strong. It was too cold to swim (Must be all this weight I am losing as I lived up here long enough to think 61 is hot), so Smookie and I went on a long walk which made Dr. K and the dog happy. Me too, I guess??
I changed my closet around to summer since it is Memorial Day and according to my Mother, the queen of everything Southern, I can bring out the white. Looked at full laundry baskets and decided to break down and start setting up appointments with surgeons for the mastectomy and reconstruction. I confessed to both Matt and Dr. K that I had purposely put this off as I didn't want to face it, but I really have no choice but to pull up my big girl pants and march on. I have a surgeon for the mastectomy but am getting a second opinion and am looking at three surgical options of either implants or some tissues reconstruction with two different plastic surgeons.. Once I decide the path of reconstruction, I will get a second opinion from another that does the type I choose. I think Matt thought he had a job, but it will be spent interviewing docs and taking me to chemo next month!
Dr. K says my numbers are fine and within range. He also told me my angst at having 8 more weeks of chemo is normal. I finished up the hard part and I want it to be over. After looking ahead tho, there is comfort in what you know to expect!! Lucky for me that I have friends that have walked this walk and are helping me see the light at the end of the tunnel.
As our volatile spring weather moves into summer, I am glad for the longer days and the cool breezes at night. Now if the Rangers could get their act together so Matt can bring home the Stanley Cup, well life would be grand! So get out the marching bands, the obscene Super Bowl halftimes and get ready for the second half! We are on our way!
Happy Memorial Day weekend. Drive safe and sober. Remember those who fought for us to celebrate! Here is to my Daddy, Big Ed, Pud (my uncle) and of course, our Uncle Jeffie!
Kisses
