Lots of good news. My white blood cell count is up and that is the best news as the belly shots of granix to boost them is off for another week. A small dip in the red count with a stern 23 pound drop means add some protein Jill to the rice and egg diet! Melissa, who picked me up, thinks it shows. I think she is trying to discourage me from tackling her in her fine new body this summer at the Beach Club! Remember I am sexy back!
My platelet count is up, but it is creating a little problem with my port in forming a clot each time they draw blood. I am now taking an enzyme that breaks it down anytime from 45 min-2 hours before chemo so it can lengthen my stay. I must admit that this one was pretty funny with Melissa from her 6 mile hike and blistered ankle to Anika the cute nurse with the crash cart standing by to Michael our traveling nurse from Arkansas who wheeled his chair in and took over. Sounded like an red neck convention going on in there! He was impressed I had replaced my hair with a rolling stones cut and not an Aquanet big hair number of my youth! Maryellen and Cindy would have been proud to know that this week I kept my filters on and played nice!!
In all truth the Taxol is like a piece of cake compared to the last. With the exception of a couple of days, I actually feel normal (as one can be with no eyelashes, eyebrows, hair as the UPS guy well knows) and that makes each day so much easier.
I had a lovely lunch with John and Mindy. John reminded me to listen to my body, take the naps, smell the flowers. Sage advice overlooked so often. His strength and determination to find a cure for his situation are inspiring to me and remind me how fortunate I am to be where I am. It is hard to have self pity when you look at your puzzle peices and know they will fit without your research and determination to make them work. I applaud John, his vigor, his strength and I am so proud to call him my friend. I am one of his fighters and will work to get him to that end result so we can both laugh as this time of our lives as a little bump in the road!
So before the Brian Cashman of my life (go look up Arod you non baseball people!) grabs me and smacks me back to reality, I need to set up everything for my buddy Mattie the grilling machine tonight. Thanks to God for good weather, good reports and oh yeah....ALL OF YOU!!!!!
Love your Moms, wives or daughters this Mothers Day. Us girls are great!
